On March 8, I shared this sermon at church, and I thought my paid subscribers might enjoy reading it too. It is a story about an ordinary trip to a well that turned into a life-changing conversation with Jesus. Settle in with a cup of coffee and enjoy.

Read John 4:1–42
Imagine turning on your kitchen faucet tomorrow morning and the water starts talking. Not just trickling out quietly, but shouting with excitement. “Wheeeee! I’m alive!” “I’m turning into soap bubbles!” “I’m going back down the drain!” “Look at me! I’m going into the coffee pot!” Of course, water doesn’t actually talk. But in a way, water is alive. Our bodies need it. The earth depends on it. Everything living is sustained by it.

But one day, sitting beside a well, Jesus began talking about a different kind of water. Not water that keeps the body alive, but water that refreshes the soul. And it all begins with a conversation. Not a sermon. Not a miracle. Just a conversation beside a well.
